General purpose

The STEMsim program is a tool to simulate STEM and TEM images. The program is written in Matlab and uses different approaches for image computation:

  • Frozen lattice approximation (atomic displacements are uncorrelated)
  • Frozen phonon approximation (phonon dispersion relation from DFT, Born effective charges not yet taken into account)
  • Absorptive potential approach with Multislice or Bloch wave
